Cold Showers All Round

It's been a while since I last blogged. I've said it before but honestly days roll into weeks, roll into months and before you know it, half the year has gone. I've had a couple of really busy stressful months. Not helped by the fact that I've had all sorts of plumbing issues at home which has resulted in needing to replace the boiler. So I've been boiling kettles to store hot water and having cold showers in the mornings. Some might say it's invigorating, I say plainly annoying. I have however managed to get away for a few days in between. I spent the last Bank Holiday weekend in Berlin which...

Blowing Hot & Cold

Hello everyone, apologies it has been a while since my last blog. As always time has run away from me again and my seemingly quieter start to the year didn't last very long. My diary is now fully booked through March, April, May and the most part of June. I would always encourage you to rebook your grooming appointments straight away, at least two in advance or like some of my clients, book the whole year so they are in the diary. I was shocked at receiving news last week that I had won the Dog Friendly Magazine Reviews Competition that I had entered last September with my blog about the Lake District! Even more shocked to realize that I had won not only a digital SLR camera but also a laptop! The timing could not have been more perfect as...

A Dog Walker?.....that’s easy money!

I am always amazed lately at how many new Dog Walker vans I see appear and then quickly disappear after only a few months.  I can only assume it’s because they are of the impression that it’s an easy way to make a lot of money.  Often, they quickly discover that if you’re doing it properly and professionally, it really isn’t “easy money”.   If there’s one thing that is guaranteed to wind me up, it’s when a conversation starts like the above.  It normally goes like this “so you’re a Dog Walker……….so how many dogs do you walk at a time?” I reply with 6.  This is then fol...

Why Basset Hounds?

I’m often asked the question why I have such a love for Basset Hounds and why I chose this breed to share my home and my life. There are several answers but mainly (and only those of a certain age will know what I’m talking about here!), as a young child I used to watch The Dukes of Hazard all of the time and those who know what I’m talking about will remember Roscoe with his beloved sidekick Flash who was of course a Basset Hound.  I had never ever seen a real Basset Hound in the flesh until I went to stay in a little B&B just outside the New Forest with an old boyfriend in 1994.&nbs...
