Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning
It is estimated that by the time they are 2 years old, 80% of dogs begin to show signs of oral disease.
Using a dog designed ultrasonic toothbrush, this method of cleaning dogs’ teeth has proved popular over the last few years. It is very non-invasive as there is no brushing of the teeth as such. The toothbrush head is simply held on each tooth for a few seconds at a time.
The ultrasonic waves emitted by the toothbrush break down food particles, tartar and plaque allowing it to be gently scraped from the tooth’s surface with a finger nail.
This type of teeth cleaning does not replace any dental treatments that would be performed by Vets under anaesthetic. It is designed to clean teeth and gums with a light build up of plaque and will work alongside a regular home grooming routine.
Left untreated, any kind of oral disease can lead to other more serious health problems in dogs. It is a good idea to start on a daily routine of teeth cleaning with your dog as soon as you can.
In some cases, I may ask you to get your Vet to check the soundness of the dog’s teeth before any cleaning treatment commences.
Also, if I feel there is a very large build up of plaque or tartar on the teeth and gums or if the dog’s mouth is extremely red, tender and/or bleeding, or any teeth are loose, I will recommend a Vet’s opinion first.
Teeth cleaning will only be available to dogs with generally good health and temperament.
